Michael Not Sleeping

I love my husband, I really and truly do.

Sometimes I like to poke fun at him.  This is one of those times.

I don’t know if it’s just a Michael thing or if it’s a guy thing in general, so maybe you can relate or maybe you can’t.  

Michael has the tendency to not fall asleep during the evenings.  I mean, it’ll be ten o’clock at night and I’m ready for bed and I look over at him and notice that he’s not sleeping so I ask if he’s ready for bed too. 99% of the time, when he’s not sleeping, his response is something like “I’m not ready for bed,” or if I turn off the TV, “Hey I was watching that,” or if I accuse him of dozing off, “I’m not sleeping!” and sometimes he offers me an explanation that is irrefutable: “I just blinked.”

Yeah, right … I call BS!

I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he’s still watching the tv or that he truly isn’t ready for bed or that he is indeed not sleeping.  However, I have evidence to the contrary.

I may or may not get in trouble for this, but I’ll take my chances.  HA!

Here is a picture of Michael, clearly not sleeping on the couch.

It is quite obvious in this picture that neither Michael or Dozer are sleeping. Their eyes are wide open and snuggling does not seem to even factor in.

As you can see, when he is not sleeping he generally has the same positioning for his arms. When he puts his arms in this position it’s a clue for me that very soon he’s going to be “staying awake and watching tv” … You know, not sleeping, like he’s doing in this picture.

I do have more evidence of how wide awake he likes to stay in the evenings watching television, but it would be redundant at this point in time. He doesn’t not sleep every night, but I could probably photograph him not sleeping easily two or three times a week. I understand he works hard and he’s tired, but his denial is just too funny for me to pass up.

And yes, this post is full of sarcasm.

Definition:
Michael – {mahy-kuhl} – My husband. The accused.
Not Sleeping – {not} {slee-ping} – The denial of being asleep. To be sleeping. Eyes closed, snoring and sometimes drooling.
